Permission to Heal

A Community For Empowered Healers

Ok so its time to get serious about my health. I just turned 50. I was just diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and I am overweight. I probably am addicted to food. It is probably masking other emotional issues I need to confront. So  as of today, May 30th 2011 I weigh......210.0. My goal is to lose 40 pounds by the end of October when I go on a cruise. I also want to be off my glocafase and blood pressure

meds by then. And I plan to do this by going Vegan.

The tools I will use is the website my food diary, and the book change your brain and change your body by Dr. Daniel  Amen. I will also try and provide my menu a day before I eat it. As well as how I feel emotionally and phyically on this journey. And I will also share this blog on facebook.

So I encourage you to comment with your own journey's as we transform together!

Namaste, Lou

Yes, wow, it is an illusion. Its amazing how insane we all are. I mean its insane to judge and object to improving our lives. We wouldn't accept it from someone else, why do we accept from ourselves. It is so easy to believe pain and suffering and so hard to choose happiness, to believe it. Let's change that! :-)

Thank you for the love and support, hugs!

Excellent, Lou! Thank you for sharing so authentically. I am proud of you for the steps you have taken so far. And at this point, you should feel like you could do more, even though this is an illusion. You can only do what you can do. Sounds incredibly simple, I know, but the mind has a tricky way of judging our progress so that hopefully we'll see ourselves as failing and quit. Change is uncertain and "life threatening" and the mind wants no part of it.

Baby steps is key in establishing new habits and lifestyle practices. This way you can sneak by the mind's impulse to judge and be overwhelmed, while you build your momentum. Just focus on one small step at a time and before you know it, you will be coasting.

I recommend keeping a journal to keep track of your progress! At the very least, write down your successes every day. I don't know where I would be without this practice... and I mean that quite literally! How can we know where we are in our journey if we don't know where we've been?

Anyway, great work! The best is ahead! You can do it!

Hi Victoria - I have had a bit of a rocky start. Finding if I want to make this work I need to plan and be REALLY organized. Not my strong points. My room-mate is also presenting a problem. She is a vegetarian which is good but also, an in the moment person. She is resisting having a weeks worth of meals planned out. And she does the cooking. But I am not using them as excuses. Its up to me to take control of my food intake and the BEST time to start is NOW. Not at the perfect moment, it may never come.

I have been doing what I can and started watching my portions. And even though I can do so much more, just this little change has produced big results. My energy is off the hook and I accomplished so much this weekend.

In regards to your question Victoria, so much is possible! Greater confidence in my social and professional life. More energy to accomplish much more! Improving my mental focus and capacity, and the ability to share my story with others. Because when I can inspire someone to live a better life, I am living on purpose.

Thanks for the question as it has helped me clarify why I am doing this! :-)

Thank you, Lou. I really hear someone who is ready to own their health. This takes courage, and sharing your process will make all the difference! I look forward to seeing what you create!

Tell me, besides for the weight loss, what else do you see being possible for your life by taking control of your health?

Quote of the Month:

"Recognizing, accepting, and expressing our authentic interior reality lies at the heart of honesty; only when we are honest with ourselves can we speak or act honestly with anyone else. In the sense of integrity, honesty entails acting in line with higher laws despite negative impulses to the contrary.

Live according to your highest light and more light will be given."
