Permission to Heal

A Community For Empowered Healers

Hello all, I'd like to do a detox/cleanse for about a week. I've heard about the lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper cleanse and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or advice about this? I've been meat, eggs, and dairy free since summer 2009 and been eating a lot more raw since the start of 2011. I'd like to just reset my body and get more focused again with exercise. Any suggestions for a good body cleanse? Thanks!

The cleanse that you are referencing above is called the Master Cleanse. I've heard good things about it, although, I have not personally done it. You can pick up an instruction manual for it Sevananda, along with other "box" cleanses, some of which of well formulated. The person on staff shouldbe able to give you some usefull information.

The truth is that there are many, many ways to cleanse and detox and fast, none is better than another, per se, they simply all give different results. Since it's your first time I would suggest you simply start by doing some research to educate yourself on what's available. Steve Meyerwitz's book on juice fasting is a very good comprehenisive guide, which you should be able to find at most book stores and health food stores. Once you've got some clarity on how to go about a cleanse, pick which one resonates with you most, meaning your schedule will allow for it and it will yield the kind of results you are looking for.

But here's the thing: cleansing is something that anyone who is committed to living a full and balanced lifestyle should give serious attention to, ongoingly. What goes in is just as important as what goes out! It should be a lifelong practice for everyone! So you have some time to play with it.

And it's okay to experience some confusion or not knowing exactly what route you want to take in the beginning, heck, I still experience that after 5 years of routine cleanses. It's is part of the learning process and we are always learning when it comes to our bodies. It's our responsibility to bring compassion and patience to this process.

Let me know how it's going, okay?!!

"Recognizing, accepting, and expressing our authentic interior reality lies at the heart of honesty; only when we are honest with ourselves can we speak or act honestly with anyone else. In the sense of integrity, honesty entails acting in line with higher laws despite negative impulses to the contrary.
