"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."
- Steven Pressfield, author of Do the Work
I can not tell you how much it moves me to see the steady increase of participation on the site. Mad Miss Mash, Andrew, Don, Jan and whoever else I may be missing, beautiful work! And even though an ego boost is always fun, that's not the only reason I am…

Hi All,
It's been quite a while since I posted. The long and short of it is, after 20 days without sugar, I grabbed a raw chocolate bar at the Dekalb Farmer's Market and I was off to the races.
It "happened" with a lot of forethought, though the actual gesture took a split second.
Since then I have been eating sugary things off and on. I'm not too happy about the weight I've gained since this, er, "happened." Gaining and losing weight is after all, a calories in and…

For the first time in 4 years, I was sick a few weeks ago. At one moment, as I lay in bed, I thought to myself, "this is what it feels like to be a human being who gets sick sometimes." Then a wave of emotion washes over me as I am suddenly present to a scene from my childhood...
I am 7 years old. I am sick with a fever. I am walking to the kitchen, past my mother who is sitting in the living room watching the 5 o'clock news,…

Hi All,
My birthday is a day apart from one of my best friends birthday, and we celebrated in a big way yesterday. My friend was turning 50, and I 51, My guess is there were over 50 people attending the party. The party was catered with Jamaican style food. Not much in the way of raw food, but the food was fresh and well prepared. My favorite was the pineapple coleslaw.
Rewind to five hours before the party. The big test, of course, would be the cake. Would I eat any? The funny…

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
- Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu
Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC)
In my experience, true Health is the product of honoring what it is to be a REAL, LIVE human being who feels things, even things we may not like, and consciously lives in ways that push the envelope anyway because we believe…

Hi All,
The biggest challenge I thought I would have yet in taking sugar out of my diet happened last Friday. I was at a holiday party and there were sweets galore. There was also really healthy food, a cut above the usual holiday fare. I thought I would have a hard time at the party but I didn't. I really enjoyed the good food and didn't miss the sugar at all.
The most interesting thing that happened at the party was how people reacted when I was turning them down as they…

Hi All,
In response to my last blog, Victoria Moon asked a very important question regarding what “happened” after my last bodybuilding contest. Soon after my last competition I knew I had to begin to attend OA meetings when I could not stop eating. It was really frightening. I knew for some time that I had an eating disorder, but I was able to "control" my very strict bodybuilders diet for about three years, falling “off the wagon” harder and harder after each show. The good…

As a healer who uses what some might call "unconventional" methods to ensue profound healing in my life and in the lives of others, I have often been asked things like, "Why are raw foods better than cooked foods?" or "Why is…
